Op 24 november 2011 is het KNW Najaarscongres georganiseerd in Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem. Het thema van het congres is Technologische Trends en ICT in de watersector. Tijdens het congres is gesproken worden over diverse actuele onderwerpen op het gebied van technologie en ICT.
ACHTERGROND
Informatietechnologie wordt steeds belangrijker voor de waterbeheerder. Voor de operationeel beheerder zijn actuele gegevens over het weer, de toestand van het watersysteem, de regelkunstwerken, etc. essentieel om de juiste beslissingen te nemen. Beleidsmakers willen inzicht in trends en de effecten van maatregelen. Managers hebben actuele informatie nodig over de voortgang van de uitvoering van het beleid en de inzet van middelen. Bestuurders willen een samenhangend beeld van de mate waarin aan de gestelde waterdoelen wordt voldaan, om goede doelmatigheidsafwegingen te kunnen maken. Metingen, modellen en informatiesystemen zijn daarbij essentiële hulpmiddelen die niet meer zijn weg te denken uit het moderne watermanagement. Kortom: Water wordt digitaal!
Vragen die we ons tijdens het najaarscongres willen stellen zijn:
Maken we voldoende gebruik van de uitgebreide mogelijkheden van IT?
Welke ontwikkelingen en trends signaleren we op dit gebied?
